Disabled Face Hardships During Lockdown

People with disabilities feel let down by both the state and the central government. They say that Rs 1,000 for a month declared by the central government is often not enough to cover the expense of even their medicines. And this amount, too, is not reaching all those who are eligible. Many organisations representing the community had jointly registered their protest in Tamil Nadu a couple of weeks ago as they demanded Rs 5,000 per month for the differently abled. NewsClick spoke to S Nambu Rajan, general secretary, Tamil Nadu Association for Rights of All Types of Differently Abled and Caregivers (TARATDAC) to understand their issues.
