The Aftermath of Pulwama Encounter

According to the police, slain civilian Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat (35) was caught in the crossfire, but the residents alleged that he was shot after being taken out of his house.

On February 18, four days after the Pulwama suicide bomb attack, four army men including an officer, three militants and a civilian were killed in a gunfight in Pinglena of Pulwama district. The gunfight broke out at 12.45 am when joint teams of forces were preparing for a search operation following an input about the presence of Jaish militants in the area. According to the police, slain civilian Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat (35) was caught in the crossfire, but the residents alleged that he was shot after being taken out of his house. His house and three other houses were completely damaged in the encounter. The locals were seen collecting money to rebuild the damaged houses.
