Former DUTA President Nandita Narain talks to Newsclick on the draft bill of Higher Education Commission of India Act 2018, which is set to replace the current University Grants Commission Act. She talks in detail about how the policy will adversly affect funding of educational institutions and inclusion of minorities in higher education. She further discusses how the govt funded institutions are gradually being sold to private players and corporates for economic profit and the welfare of the people is not being considered. Professor Narain also expresses the need to resist such a move to save the future of millions in the country.
