It was a very significant step to hold a meeting at this point of time when the peace process is almost in pieces. It is important for the civil society initiatives to continue, especially now when the governments are no more interested in sustaining the benefits of peace. Not to talk of many other things, but the people living on the LoC are very fearful of the hostility gradually increasing. They fear that the border might become active and the normal life that they could enjoy last few years, would be disrupted once again! Someone needs to think and speak for them.
