Anna Hazrae v Prabhat Patnyak

I am somewhat disappointed reading Patnayak's piece on Anna Hazare & his party ideologue Yechuri that Bills are not made on Maidans. Anna Hazare is no Messiah he emerged from the mass movement involving issues like RTI and corruption in which protest plays an important role of anti thesis. In fact, his argument in defence of a bourgeois democracy is appalling and he like Somnath Chatterjee emerged an Avant Garde champion of bourgeois democracy (once his party pleged to destroy) than any bourgeoisie would do.
Further, the executive is an elected agent of the people of India (like managers in a corporation). If the executive failed to act in the best interest of the people, any citizen or the court on its own volition could seize the situation to restore the civil liberties and the Rule of law.
The moment of truth is, if both the BJP and the Left were doing their jobs Anna Hazare did not have to come forward to voice the opinion against the Govt. As the movement appeared to succeed now left parties half heartedly protested for a strong LokPal. The point is then why Left could not pressurize UPA Govt when it Honeymoon with UPA for 4 years. No wonder Mr Manmohan Singh moan about missing counsel of the left which he is getting now from the left ideologues.
