For 30 years we have been sold the lie that privatisation and free markets make everyone prosperous. The truth is that the poor have remained poor, while the richest 1% have made all the gains. The policies followed by successive governments since 1991 have effectively reversed the progress made after independence in reducing the gap between the rich and the poor.
