DU: Teachers Protest Non-Payment of Salaries and Attack on Independence of Colleges

The teachers leveled serious allegations against the Kejriwal government and said that it was destroying higher education alongside the Modi Government.

The Delhi University Teachers' Association ( DUTA ) conducted a march from the DU Vice Chancellor's Office to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence today, March 15, after having been on strike earlier. The teachers leveled serious allegations against the Kejriwal government and said that it was destroying higher education alongside the Modi Government. On March 11 DUTA had expressed its opposition in the form of a 'DU shutdown', conducted in protest against non-payment of salaries to teachers and staff of 12 colleges, who had not been paid for long. Following this, the Government of Delhi's Directorate of Higher Education (DOHE) released funds for 12 colleges a day later. However, the teachers are calling the funds inadequate and demanding that the government release all of the funds required.
