Contractual workers of Centralised Accidents and Trauma Services (CATS) have declared a strike, protesting against the Delhi Government's latest order to pass on the tender to GVK Emri. This move has rendered over 1,650 people jobless who were employed by BVG India Ltd, the company which had the tender until now. The workers demand that they be regularised and privatisation of emergency services be stopped. They have also accused BVG India Ltd of not having paid their salaries for the past three months and demand the money at the earliest.
