Assembly Elections 2017 – Results and Leads

An update of the last election analysis.

Counting for 5 states is on. At 4:00 pm, here is an update

U.P

BJP is sweeping UP in 2017. Leading at 309 seats, compared to the 47 seats in 2012. SP and Congress Alliance is leading in 16 seats, which is a huge drop from 252 in 2012. BSL is leading in 20 seats.

However, it is interesting to note that the vote share for BJP and its allies, have decreased from that of 2012. SP + Congress vote share has also decreased. BSP’s vote share has actually gone up. Despite the decrease in the number of seats for BSP, their vote share has actually increased, from 19.7 in 2012 to 22.2 this year.

Punjab

Congress is leading in 78 seats in Punjab. The SAD-BJP alliance is doing worse than 2012, with leading in 17 seats compared to the 68 seats in 2012. AAP which was contesting for the first time in Punjab, so far is leading on the second highest number of seats. AAP is leading on 20 seats so far.

Goa

Congress is leading in Goa with 15 seats. BJP leading on 14. AAP has not yet opened its account.

Manipur

In Manipur, Congress is leading on 26 seats. BJP on 20 seats. NPF, contesting for the first time, is leading on 4 seats.

Uttarakhand

So far, compared to 2012, BJP has made a gain, while Congress is on a decline. BJP is leading in 57 seats in Uttarakhand. Congress is leading on 11.
