Azadi Kooch started an year after Una Violence.
Mevani joined by Kanhaiya Kumar and other leaders from across India has been battling the might of the government at every step of the way. Azadi Kooch, a march for dignity and land started by Mevani on the first anniversary of the Una violence is receiving support from all the sections of the society.
Newsclick team followed Jignesh Mevani as he kicked off Azadi Kooch (a 7 day march). This event was held one year after the Una Andolan in Gujarat. Jignesh Mevani was supported by Kanhaiya Kumar, Reshma Patel, farmers movements and other groups. Jignesh, Kanhaiya and others were detained by the Gujarat police on the 1st day of the march. Despite this they are carrying on, holding public meetings at all their planned destinations.
