On the one hand, the project could meet the pressing infrastructural needs of the region, bridging division caused by colonialism. On the other, the amount of investment raises questions of sustainability. The solution could lie in the mutlilateralisation of the project, something India needs to look at from a perspective beyond its usual Pakistan-centric lens.
