The Defence Production Policy 2018 sets some highly ambitious goals, the primary one being making India self-sufficient in defence manufacturing by 2025. But India remains one of the largest importer of defence goods and services, and to make the transition to a net exporter, or even self-sufficiency will require some serious policy considerations.
