The Counter Revolution of 1776 and Construction of Whiteness

On the 4th of July, the US celebrates its independence. Questions have now been raised that were the colonists fighting for independence or their rights to own slaves and dispossess the native Americans of land (http://www.nytimes.com/2016/07/04/opinion/did-a-fear-of-slave-revolts-drive-american-independence.html)? We are carrying an interview of historian Gerald Horne on 1776 and the Us of War of Independence. 

On Reality Asserts Itself Mr. Horne says that the defense of massive profits from the slave trade and fear of slave rebellions was an important impetus for the American Revolution.
