Delhi: Day-Long Protest to Defend Journalism; Memorandum Sent to President!

On October 16, a large number of journalists gathered at the Press Club of India in Delhi to defend journalism in the backdrop of police action against Newsclick and journalists associated with it as well as seizure of devices. First, a meeting was held, after which the journalists sat on dharna on the road. A delegation later went to Rashtrapati Bhavan and submitted a memorandum to the President seeking her intervention in the matter. The protest was supported by several media organisations, including Press Club of India, Indian Women's Press Club, Delhi Union of Journalists, and Kerala Working Union of Journalists (Delhi Unit).
