Salary problems of employees have become common in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. Meanwhile, on Monday, May 9, 5,000 East Delhi Municipal Corporation teachers staged a sit-in at the corporation's headquarters, demanding an immediate release of their salaries. There are around 50,000 employees in EDMC; 5,000 are teachers. According to the Municipal Corporation Teachers Association, the salaries for the last five months, pension of six months, and four years' arrears of teachers are pending.
