'Dravidian Politics Not Adequate For Social Progress'
The Stalin-led DMK government in Tamil Nadu has been chest-thumping over the 'Dravidian Model'. But, Venkatesh Athreya, professor of Economics at Bharathidasan University says that if the Dravidian Model is interpreted as the welfare of the people, then it is in conflict with the neo-liberal model upheld in the budget. He also said that decentralised politics is not practiced in the state and cites land reforms as the fundamental need of progressive politics. These are the shortcomings of the so-called Dravidian model.
