Unlike in 2020 when much of rural India was spared the worst ravages of the lockdown, the ongoing second wave of the pandemic will have a harsh impact on livelihoods in the country's villages and those in the unorganised sector of the economy, says former Chief Statistician of India Pronab Sen in an exclusive interview with NewsClick, adding that contrary to government claims the actual rate of decline of the country's gross domestic product in the 2020-21 fiscal year would be around 12 %.
