Gorakhpur Tragedy: 'Oxygen Supply Disrupted at BRD Because Govt Didn't Give Funds in Time'

Following the horrible incident, the then BRD Principal Dr Rajiv Misra and his wife Dr Purnima Shukla were arrested along with two other doctors who were later granted bail. Dr Misra and his wife are still languishing in jail.

It has been nine months since the tragic incident of the death of over 30 children at BRD Medical College and Hospital in Gorakhpur. Following the horrible incident, the then BRD Principal Dr Rajiv Misra and his wife Dr Purnima Shukla were arrested along with two other doctors who were later granted bail. Dr Misra and his wife are still languishing in jail.

Newsclick spoke to Dr Misra's son Dr Purak Misra , a former surgeon with Delhi's Apollo Hospital, who is now running pillar to post to secure bail for his parents. Purak says his parents are being made “scapegoats".
