Government Scared of Farmers, its Anti-Public, Anti-Democratic Stance Exposed

It’s clear the BJP and its state governments are running scared of farmers. The successful mobilisation of farmers in Muzaffarnagar has got it dazed and confused. If the party had acted a little more intelligently in Haryana, the farmers of Haryana would not have opened a new anti-government front at Karnal. Then the BJP has asked the pro-RSS Kisan Sangh to break its months-long silence and get ‘active’ among farmers. Sure enough, the Kisan Sangh staged a sit-in at Jantar Mantar in Delhi and TV channels covered it more actively than the actual mass agitations going on at Muzaffarnagar and Karnal. The Haryana government has put an SDM in charge of mediating between companies and farmers on the Contract Farming Act. Shockingly, the same SDM has talked of “breaking the protesting farmers’ heads with sticks”. Can farmers expect justice from such a government?
