Gujarat is going to polls, and votes are being sought in the name of ban on cow slaughter and surgical strikes. A total of 1,483 farmers ended their lives in Gujarat from 2013 to 2015 because of indebtedness and crop failure, but mainstream media discussions are only concerned with ’sex' CD of Patidar quota agitation leader Hardik Patel.

NewsClick travelled to the villages of the state where farmers killed themselves because they were heavily in debt. We spoke to one such family at Sasang village in Jamnagar district.
