In the village of Harivanshpur, about 40 kms north of Patna, in Bihar's Vaishali district, people were troubled by the outbreak of Chamki Fever. The villagers only sought clean drinking water, sanitation and adequate health facilities to rectify this situation. When seven children from 40 families died, they blocked the nearby NH-22 in 2019, demanding attention from their government. In lieu of water, sanitation and health facilities, villagers were falsely given assurances by politicians and other stakeholders, and FIRs were also registered against them for blocking the highway. They were promised clean water and that the FIR would be withdrawn. However, the people of this village are still waiting for the fulfillment of these promises.
