Newsclick spoke to veteran Congress leader and former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi who claimed that people would fight back if the government continued to create chaos in the name of state's National Register of Citizens (NRC).
The Supreme Court on July 2 extended its June 30 deadline for the publication of the final draft of the NRC by a month. The court gave the extension after the Centre and the state NRC coordinator agreed to publish it within the new July 30 deadline.
