If You’re a Patriot, Then Hear Out Farmers, Too

PM Modi says farmers have been crushed by the APMC system, which is dominated by arthiyas and middlemen. But, the fact is that 94% farm households do not reach APMC mandis at all. In states where such mandis exist, such as Punjab, farmers sometimes do get better prices. There is, therefore, need for more such mandis, along making MSP a legal right for farmers. Only then can farmers get remunerative prices for their crops.
