'India Needs to Focus on Developing Indigenous Defence Manufacturing'

In this interview with NewsClick, defence analyst D. Raghunandan says, ''India needs to focus on developing indigenous manufacturing and indigenous weapons system platform which will require investment in research and development. The government need not worry about export or independent private sector rolls. If you give a boost to the 'defence public sector undertakings' which have capability for both research and production, it will automatically bring in private sector for manufacture of sub-assemblies and may lead to some of them emerging as independent players on their own.''
