This is part of a series of infrographics and data visualisation that Newsclick is developing to show the extreme wealth inequalities in India. The first in this series shows that top 1% owns almost the same wealth -- 49% -- as the rest 99% of India's population, who own 51%. This makes India one of the most unequal countries in the world.
Newsclick will also look at other aspects of inequality and its growth over the last decades. The calculations are based on Credit Suisse Wealth Databook 2014.
