This workers' testimonial is part of a panel discussion organised by Prayas in collaboration with the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung on the working conditions of industrial workers around Kadi town in North Gujarat. This episode will shed light on issues like industrial diseases, sexual abuse and suicide rates in the region. Workers have to operate under extremely hazardous conditions, where the ginning process generates minuscule fibres, without protective gear. The inhaling of cotton fibres leads to serious diseases like Byssinosis. However, none of the factories provide any masks to workers. As a result, the workers repeatedly suffer from respiratory and skin-related diseases.
