Jamia Students: If Fighting for Campus Democracy is Politics, Then We’re Politicians

NewsClick spoke to students here who are agitating against the varsity administration for the restoration of their union and campus democracy.

For attaining political maturity, students require training on campus too. By debating and agitating on issues, students create an intellectual space that helps them develop skills to influence, mobilise and lead people.

But Jamia Millia Islamia, a central university in the heart of the capital, has sadly remained indifferent to this. The students’ union elections in the college have been banned here since March 2006.
