Kasganj Communal Tension: Fact Finding Shows Gaping Holes in Police investigation

The team -- United Against Hate -- in a media interaction in Lucknow and New Delhi, questioned the role of police and administration, calling it a failure on their part to stop the on-going violence.

A fact-finding team that went to Kasganj in Uttar Pradesh after the communal tension and police crackdown found the oddity of this kind of violence taking place in a town that has never seen any communal incident. In the incident that took place on January 26, two Muslim youths sustained injuries and one Hindu youth died of a bullet injury. The fact-finding team claimed that the UP police investigation has been heavy-handed towards one community and basic questions like who killed Chandan Gupta has still not been looked into.
