Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ongoing US state visit is being labelled as 'historic' by the mainstream media. But, what is indeed “historic” is that a state has been witnessing horrific violence for almost 50 days and the PM not only chooses to remain silent on it but leaves the country and holds a 'yoga retreat' among other things. Not to mention that the said state, Manipur, is being run by a BJP-led government, a 'double-engine' brand the ruling party has been selling in all elections. The violence in Manipur is not the only trouble looming over the country, Uttarakhand has been seeing a rise in communal tension, price rise continues to go unchecked, and unemployment is on the rise... Perhaps, Modi ji needed a break from all the negativity?
From inflation and unemployment to continued violence in Manipur, India is in turmoil while PM Modi takes a deep breath and stretches himself in the US.
