Established in 1955 as a training institute to prepare Defence Services aspirants for the services selection board, Minerva Academy was well known in that system. Borrowing some of the philosophies, and many of the facilities, of that training institute, Ranjit Bajaj created a football club with an unwavering focus on developing young players. The club secured promotion to the I-League by finishing second in its debut season in the 2nd division. Now in their second season in the nation’s top flight, Minerva are on the verge of matching Aizawl FC’s remarkable I-league campaign from last year.
