'Modi Govt has Pushed India's Healthcare Backward'

The recent guidelines by the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) of the AYUSH Ministry under the central government has allowed Ayurveda doctors to conduct surgeries. However, the move is facing vehement opposition from the Indian Medical Association (IMA). "It is absurd that a person who does not have thorough knowledge and practice in surgeries is doing it. This kind of approach will not only be harmful to the people but will also lead to the collapse of the entire healthcare system of the country. The problem is not just with the guidelines but with the 'one nation one policy' of the central government," said Dr Jayalal, recently elected president of the IMA.
