'Motive of Draft Resettlement Policy is Eviction, Not Rehabilitation'
Stalin-led Tamil Nadu government has recently released a draft on Resettlement and Rehabilitation policy. Kishore Kumar, a researcher in state informality and peri-urban development, gives a detailed picture of the flaws in the draft policy. He points out how strategically the government is displacing the urban poor from Chennai city and cornering them to faraway places- thereby making their lives miserable. He also gives suggestions for what should be added and changed in the policy.
