Dr Nida Nawaz has been a witness of Kashmir’s transformation into what it has become today—something which is narrated also in his poems. His poems are both; a mirror as well as a reflection. Nawaz was born in Pulwama in 1963. His many poetry collections—including Akshar Akshar Rakt Bhara (Every Letter Filled with Blood) in 1997, Barf aur Aag (Ice and Fire) in 2015 and Andhere Ki Paazeb (Anklet of the Darkness) in 2019—have been published in Hindi. He has also translated many Kashmiri poems and stories into Hindi. In conversation with NewsClick, Dr Nawaz recites his poetry, which is a commentary on the long prevailing crisis in Kashmir.
