NITI Aayog: The Plan is Not to Have a Plan

The long term developmental orientation of planning commission is now replaced with short sighted project oriented goals.

Economist and Former Member of the Planning Commission of India, Prof Abhijit Sen launches a scathing attack on the NITI Aayog. Sen argues that NITI Aayog is toothless institution, unlike the planning commission which had the ability to allocate finances to sectors. This effectively centralises power in the hands of finance ministry - leaving fund allocation to its' discretion.
