Supreme Court recently upheld its earlier order in which it had said that the Army cannot use excessive force under laws such as Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). The army has been using unlawful tactics and inhumane measures in insurgency affected areas in the name of dealing with militants and terrorists. Innocent people are tortured, humiliated, and killed on mere allegations or suspicion.
