In 2017 after the documentary's success, the local government hired Bilal as a "brand ambassador" of Srinagar Municipal Corporation to help raise awareness on the importance of keeping water sources clean. He was offered a monthly salary of 8,000 rupees. This was a ray of hope for Bilal. All this, however, turned out to be false when he was told that the post of Brand Ambassador no longer exists
