The Pulwama attack earlier in February has been attributed as the cause for beefed up security arrangements.
The annual Amarnath Yatra began on July 1, 2019, and since then, the security in the Valley has been intensified. Highway bans are being imposed on certain stretches which are making life for the average citizen difficult. School/university/college buses are being stopped as well as ambulances with patients in need of critical care. Traders are losing out on business as perishable goods are rotting on the roads. Tourists too are being harassed.
