Prabir Purkayastha, who as a JNU student was arrested during the Emergency and who had to spend one year in jail, delivered the third in the series of lectures on "Azaadi: The Many Meanings of Freedom". On 23 March 2016, he spoke at #StandWithJNU, on the topic "Freedom and the Emergency". Vikas Rawal, Professor at the Centre for Economic Studies and Planning in JNU, introduced the speaker.
