Puerto Rico Governor Forced to Resign, Protestors Say This is Only First Step

Ricardo Rosselló, the governor of Puerto Rico, announced his resignation yesterday after week long mass protests on the island. The protests began after the leak of a group chat between Rosselló and his close political advisors showed the use of misogynistic, homophobic and insensitive language by them. Adding to the protestors' anger was the fact that two members of Rosselló's administration had recently been arrested in a $15 million corruption scandal. The movements in Puerto Rico are determined to not stop at Rosselló's resignation, but to carry forward the struggle until there is a complete overhaul of the US colonial system.
