The National Investigation Agency (NIA) team that landed in the Valley on Friday is probing a radius of 25 kilometres between Pampore and Pulwama onthe Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. The area is considered a bastion of Jaish-e-Mohammed, which has claimed responsibility for the dastardly suicide bomb attack on February 14 killing at least 40 CRPF troopers (the toll may have gone up).

A team of one dozen officials deputed by NIA to Srinagar investigated the spot along with explosives and forensic experts. It visited the site of the attack, took photographs and videos and collected samples for forensic examination.

Director General of CRPF RR Bhatnagar, who was present on the spot along with other officials, told reporters: “I have come to examine the spot. The teams of NIA and forensic experts are already on the job. The investigation is still on, details can only be given after completion of the investigation process.”

As per sources, the forces have already conducted raids and arrested as many as five persons from different placesfor questioning in relation to the attack.
