The Rajasthan Assembly elections appear to be a lost battle for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) despite the fact that the Opposition - the Congress - is not very strong in terms of organisation.

Famers' distress across the state is something the saffron party should be worried about as the 'annadata' constitute majority of the population here.

Newsclick spoke to farmers' activist CB Yadav, who is assistant professor at the Department of Public Administration in the University of Rajasthan, about the agrarian crisis, government's failure in addressing the problems and the issues that will rule the roost in the upcoming elections in the state. Rajasthan is going to polls on December 7 and the results will be announced on December 11.
