The Tamil Nadu government denied permission to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to hold 'route marches' in 51 places on October 2. This is not the first time RSS has not been allowed to hold events in the state. Till former chief minister J Jayalalithaa's death in 2016, the saffron organisation was not allowed public activities.
