Social activist Swami Swami Agnivesh was attacked by a Lynch mob allegedly comprising members of the ruling BJP's youth wing – the ABVP, and the RSS on July 17, while he was on a visit to Pakur district of Jharkhand. He alleged that there was no police present at the venue, and the local SP and the district magistrate did not pay heed to his request to come to the spot.
