TN Budget 'Reiterates DMK's Commitment to Neo-Liberal Mumbo-Jumbo'
Economist Venkatesh Athreya gives the national and international context under which the Tamil Nadu Budget for 2022-23 was recently presented. He said that the Russia-Ukraine war, poor handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and growing control of the Union government has left Tamil Nadu and other states in a tight position. In this context, instead of drafting a pro-people budget, Tamil Nadu has reiterated its commitment to neo-liberal economic reforms and reduced the fiscal deficit.
