Delhi: The Election Commission on Wednesday announced the schedule for assembly polls in Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland, all of which will take place in February.

The Tripura Assembly polls will be held on February 16, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said. The gazette notification will be issued on January 21 and the last day of nomination is January 30.

The Assembly elections in Meghalaya and Nagaland will take place on February 27. The last date for submitting nominations is February 7 for both states.

The results of the three assembly elections are scheduled to be out by March 4.

The term of the three assemblies is ending on different dates in March.

While the term of the Nagaland assembly ends on March 12, the terms of Meghalaya and Tripura assemblies end on March 15 and March 22 respectively.

The three state assemblies have a strength of 60 members each.

The Election Commissioner said that paramilitary forces have already deployed in the poll-bound states to maintain peace and ensure a smooth election process, which is receiving support from the local people. He added that the poll schedule has been made taking into account the school examinations, which will take place in March.

Additionally, no polling booth will be located this time at CBSE schools or exam centres, Kumar said.
