The farmer organisations of the country had already sensed the danger of farm laws. According to a Reporters' Collective report, in the name of doubling the income of farmers, NITI Aayog had formed a task force under the leadership of a person named Sharad Marathe. Interestingly, Marathe runs a software company and has absolutely no experience in farming. The report also states that the Adani group had recommended the government remove the hoarding limit, after which changes were made to the Essential Commodities Act. NewsClick spoke to Vijoo Krishnan, General Secretary of All India Kisan Sabha, and Shrigireesh Jalihal of Reporters Collective on this issue.
