‘We Have to Intensify Voice of Dissent Across the World'

Communities across the world who suffer work-based and descent-based discrimination have come together at the International Congress in Columbia University in New York. “Democracy is not a singular act of voting every four-five years. Real democracy includes not just representative democracy, but also participatory democracy. And you don't have participatory democracy if ordinary people don't feel that they can participate actively in public life,” said Kumi Naidoo, general secretary, Amnesty International in an interview with senior journalist Bhasha Singh.
