Sunil Singh, who was once a close aide of UP CM Yogi Adityanath, recently joined the Samajwadi Party (SP). Before Adityanath became the chief minister, Singh had made multiple public appearances with him. However, in 2017, he was slapped with the National Security Act (NSA) and kept under detention for several months.
