The latest victim of the Modi government's systematic dismantling of the public sector is the Sahibabad-based Central Electronics Limited (CEL). The proposed sale of the public sector undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Science and Technology threatens the livelihood of thousands of workers.

However, the workers of CEL have refused to give in to the pressure of disinvestment bids by the government. The workers’ indefinite strike and demonstration that has continued for over a month is gaining momentum.
