Jaya Velankar, director, Jagori, New Delhi, talks to NewsClick about how women are coping with the nationwide lockdown to control the spread of Covid-19. Women have run out of cash. Their livelihoods have shrunk drastically. Contraceptives are not on the list of essential services, risking women to unwanted pregnancies. Women are being denied medical care, including during childbirth. Workers, including the sizeable number of women workers employed in the domestic, home-based, casual and other workplaces, want the lockdown restrictions lifted, as soon as possible, as widely as possible.
